Australasian Civil Military Network (ACMN) aims to assist in making operations more effective and sustainable by strengthening relationships and understanding between civil-military-police actors by enhancing preparation for and response to natural disasters and complex emergencies overseas.
The Civil Military Network Forum is available here.
It does this by providing:
- a broad-based consultative forum for stakeholders wanting to seek input from Network members
- an information dissemination channel for Network members and stakeholders
In October 2008, the aims and structure of the Network will be reviewed to determine if it should become more proactive.
Purpose of the Network
The purpose of the Network is to:
- Facilitate the engagement of civil actors with the APC CIMIC, other government agencies and other stakeholders
- Provide information between Network members and stakeholders, via online forums and physical meetings
- Facilitate the rapid formation of networks and “communities of interest” around issues, projects and incidents
- Allow the rapid identification of individuals and groups required for specific needs
- Facilitate the development of personal networks between Network members and stakeholders
- Break down cultural barriers between civil and military actors, and government and non-government actors
Out of scope
The Network will not undertake the following:
- development of policy positions which bind or claim to have the support of all Network members
